What Are The Benefits Of Drinking Water?

Water - Fitness Superfood #5

Water is essential to Living Lean.

The average person is made up of approximately 60% water.

Water helps:

  • to keep your body functioning
  • your body get rid of waste
  • control your appetite

Therefore it’s important to stay properly hydrated.

How Much Water Should I Drink In A Day?

How Much Water Should I Drink To Lose Weight Fast

If you’re wondering how much water you should drink in a day, it depends.

Depending on your climate and activity level, I often recommend people drink at least 3 liters of water a day.

However, if you live in a hot climate, or are very active, I often recommend more water.

I personally aim to drink 4 liters of water per day.

Here Are 2 Signs You Are Dehydrated

How do I know if I’m properly hydrated?

Here’s a quick test to see if you’re properly hydrated.

Next time you’re in the bathroom peeing, pay attention to your urine.

If your urine is clear and odorless, it’s a good indicator that you are properly hydrated, and on the right track.

However, if your urine is really yellow and smells, this is a sign that you need to drink more water.

5 Ways to Drink More Water

Here are your 5 ways to drink more water.

#1. Buy A Big BPA-Free Re-usable Water Bottle

I want you to invest in a big BPA-free, re-usable water bottle that is at least 1 liter.

Then keep this water bottle filled with water throughout the day.

Once your water bottle is empty, if it’s a 1 liter bottle, you simply have to re-fill it 3 more times, if your goal is to drink 4 liters of water a day.

This is a simple way know if you’re hitting your daily water consumption goal.

By knowing how much water your re-usable water bottle holds, you’ll have a visual reminder of how much water you need to drink throughout the day.

I currently use this 40 oz stainless steel water bottle.

Since 40 oz is the equivalent to 1.18 liters, I know I need to drink just under 3.5 bottles of water per day to hit my 4 liter water consumption goal.

In the past, I’ve also used a 1 liter glass juice bottle.

After you finish the juice, simply wash out the bottle, then re-use that 1 liter glass bottle for your water bottle.

#2. Keep Your Water Bottle With You At The Office

Bring your water bottle to the office and keep it on top of your desk, so it’s always within your sight.

Put it close to your computer, so when you’re typing away, your water is always close by.

Also, make sure you bring your water bottle to the gym with you.

That way you don’t have to waste time walking back and forth to the water fountain.

Having your water bottle with you will also help you drink more water, compared to if you have to go to the water fountain.

#3. Add Natural Flavors To Your Water

5 ways to drink more water

I personally love the refreshing taste of water.

However, if you need more taste, do not use those water drop options that are sweetened with artificial sweeteners.

I recommend adding a few natural flavoring ingredients to your water.

Use These Healthy Natural Water Flavoring Ingredients:

  • cucumber slices
  • ginger slices
  • fruit
    • berries
    • apples
    • watermelon
    • oranges
  • cinnamon sticks
  • mint
  • basil
  • lime
  • lemon

You know I love drinking lemon water every morning.

Lemon Water Benefits And How To Make Lemon Water

Fill your re-usable water bottle the night before to allow the flavors to really come alive.

Then simply leave the ingredients in your water bottle all day as you keep refilling to hit your water goals.

At the end of the day, throw out the ingredients, wash out your water bottle, then repeat the next day.

#4. Set A Reminder In Your Smart Phone

5 Ways to Drink More Water

When you are super busy and distracted throughout the day, you may forget to drink water.

Set up an alarm notification or timer in your smart phone to help remind you to keep chugging your water.

In case you forget, this notification will remind you every hour to take a few big drinks.

#5. Make A Pact to Drink Water Before Meals

Commit to drinking one glass of water before every snack and meal throughout the day.

Drinking water before eating will also help keep you feeling fuller, faster.

In fact, a lot of times when people think they’re hungry, they actually need to hydrate.

If this is the case, drink more water.

Bottom Line On How To Drink More Water

Here’s the bottom line Live Leaner.

If drinking 3-4 liters of water a day sounds crazy, start slow.

Living Lean is about making progress, not perfection.

Try adding one extra glass of water a day for a week.

somewhere that drinking a big glass of water before a meal can wash away

efficient at digesting the meal. Any truth behind that?
