On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we share our best advice on how to stay healthy while traveling on vacation, including exercise and food tips.

Femke @FemkePointl on Twitter asks: #AskLiveLeanTV how can I stay healthy when I’m on holiday for a month in Sri Lanka. Which exercises can I do? Any other tips?
This is a great question that we receive a lot.
Staying healthy when traveling is becoming more of an issue since people are traveling more than ever before.
The good new is, it’s very possible to stay healthy while traveling.
Just because you’re traveling, it doesn’t mean that you have to stop exercising and only eat junk food.
It may be more difficult, but it’s not impossible.
It’s understandable that it may be harder to find good opportunities to exercise, but the opportunities are available.
For example, there is a video of me doing pull ups off a ledge hanging over the ocean.
Do NOT do this.
But we’re just trying to make the point that there is exercise equipment everywhere.
You just have to be more creative about it, and look for the opportunities where you wouldn’t normally see them.
So when traveling on vacation, you just have to get a little bit more creative with your workouts.
Your body can be your barbell.
It’s true, because your body is weight.
When you’re on traveling on vacation, you can also use your body as your barbell.
Doing bodyweight only workouts can definitely keep you in shape for the short term.
We normally recommend lifting weights as the ultimate way to get in amazing shape.
However, bodyweight workouts are really good for short periods of time, when you don’t have access to a gym.

Here is a quick little rundown on how to eat out healthy while traveling on vacation.
This is simple to do.
When you are ordering off the menu, start with your protein source.
Choose a healthy food that is high in protein.
When I say a healthy protein source, I’m referring to a food that is not deep fried in batter.
Then make sure you fill out the rest of the plate with vegetables.
Most restaurants will offer salads so you can have a wide variety of vegetables.
Now, since you’re on vacation, you can also have a little bit of bread or some other food that you really enjoy to eat.
If you are on vacation, have some fun and enjoy it, rather than being too strict with your diet.
But just keep it slightly dialed in so you don’t go off the deep end.
If we were going to Sri Lanka, both Jessica and I would be tasting all the new foods and flavors and enjoying the local cuisine.
Try not to keep yourself stuck in that “fitness box” of thinking you can’t eat this, because truly you can do anything you want.
However making better choices is going to make you feel better, after the vacation is over.
Just keep that in mind.
