I’m Over 300 Pounds: Am I Beyond You Being Able To Help Me?

On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we’re sharing a few of our best tips on how to make a workout easier for overweight beginners.

This was a question from #AskLiveLeanTV Ep. 013.

How To Make A Workout Easier For Overweight Beginners

Here’s today’s viewer question:

@jro_sanders on Instagram asks: I’m over 300 pounds, but I’m lucky that I have no health issues (i.e. no diabetes, etc). I’m now just starting to have joint discomfort and am getting desperate as it’s been a 20+ year war. I have PCOS, so weight loss is extremely difficult and my story is a long one.

I am very tempted to join Team Live Lean, but I’m worried that I’m too heavy for the exercises you might recommend. When you are a certain size, a lot of stuff is intimidating. I currently swim, do the elliptical, and lift weights. My question is, am I beyond you being able to help? Can you share your best tips on how to make a workout easier for overweight beginners? I admire both of you so much and love following you on social media. You have great chemistry and delivery. Keep up the great work.

Thank you for the sweet message.

We love it.

So the main question seems to be, are you beyond us helping you?

In other words, are our teachings too advanced for someone who is an overweight beginner.

First of all, it sounds like you have a really good attitude about things.

For some people, it’s easy to approach fitness with the pessimistic attitude that it will not work for you, because you feel different in some unique way.

However in reality, there are a lot of people who have started our Live Lean programs, at 300 or more pounds, including someone who was 487 pounds.

How To Start Losing Fat Quickly In First 7 Days

Although some of the exercises we recommend in our workouts, such as burpees, may seem too difficult for overweight beginners, there are ways to make them easier.

We Will Help You Make Our Workouts Easier

You mentioned that you are thinking about joining our Team Live Lean program.

Since this is a community based group coaching site, if you have questions about anything, or need exercise modifications, we are there for you as your coaches.

That’s one of the big benefits to being a member of Team Live Lean.

What Is Team Live Lean?

As a valued member of the Live Lean community, you have our ear.

We will answer all of you questions via our private Facebook Group and will help you customize the programs to make them work for you.

You can also go into the group for community support and talk to other members.

This coaching and community support is one of the reasons why we launched Team Live Lean.

Team Live Lean

We also provide you with access to a ton of different workout programs.

A lot of these workouts will be fine for an overweight beginner, but you may find some too advanced.

However, we do our best to provide beginner workout modifications for most of the workouts.

How To Make A Workout Easier For Overweight Beginners

A lot of beginners don’t know this, but the workout programs that we develop can be regressed to make them easier, or progressed to make them harder.

So even though you may be a beginner, you can regress any workout to make it easier by:

  • lifting less weight
  • taking longer rest periods
  • decreasing the number of reps
  • completing less sets
  • completing the beginner variation of the exercise

Ultimately, as your coaches, we are here to help you.

You just have to ask the questions.

Our Workouts Primarily Focus On The Foundational Movements

You say that you already swim, do the elliptical machine, and lift weights.

Based on this, it sounds like you are already familiar with weights, which is awesome.

We’re don’t add crazy exercises that you have never seen before in our Team Live Lean programs.

Our programs include foundational exercises, such as squats, deadlifts, and presses, that everyone should be doing.

As a beginner, you may be scared to do a deadlift.

The Strength Building Exercise You Need To Stop Avoiding

But at its core, the deadlift is a functional movement, just like bending over to pick up your grocery bags and putting them on the shelf.

Again, think of it as a functional movement as opposed to lifting really heavy weights.

As a beginner, we don’t expect you to lift super heavy weights.

Master the movement first by keeping the weights lighter and completing less reps, if needed.

You just have to use common sense when it comes to following a workout program.

Bottom Line

So the bottom line is, yes.

As an overweight beginner, you can still do our Team Live Lean workout programs.

If you have questions, feel free to ask us, and we will do whatever we can to make the workouts work for you.

Regardless of what your background is, our goal is to train the world.

It is not our goal to only target a specific type of fit and athletic client for our workout programs.

We Want To Help You

If you’re still on the fence, what I want you to do right now is click here to look our before and after success stories.

Live Lean Transformation 1,000,000 Mission

This will inspire you as these people have watched our Live Lean TV YouTube channel, followed our advice, and completed our programs.

This includes people who are over 300 pounds and have transformed their lives, just by following our recommendations.

Remember, this doesn’t mean these success stories were doing the hardest workouts on day one.

It takes time, patience, and consistency to build up to that.

You Attitude Is Everything

It’s critical for us to get the point across of how important your attitude is during the journey.

If you think you can’t do something, you’ve already defeated yourself.

We understand that intimidation might be a factor in the beginning.

So if you feel intimidated, that’s okay.

A lot of people feel intimidated in the beginning, so don’t let that feeling make you think fitness is not for you.

I guarantee there are a whole bunch of other people in Team Live Lean that are intimidated as well.

So go share a vulnerable post in the Facebook Group, and see the responses from others.

I’m sure you’ll get replies such as:

I feel you as I’ve been there too. Here’s what I did to get over it.

There’s a community inside that wants to help you, just like we do.

Now I want you to go check out this video post on why you’re not losing fat as a beginner.
