The Truth About Diet Foods

On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, I’m setting the record straight on the 5 worst frozen diet foods for weight loss.

Are you one of the many people that have fallen into the trap of eating “diet” foods that marketers claim as being healthy?

But first, I have to be honest with you.

After creating close to 500 episodes for our Live Lean TV YouTube channel, I was running short on ideas for today’s post.

So to get inspired, like I always do, I went to the grocery store.

Yes, the grocery store is filled with a lot of deceiving marketing tactics.

Top 19 Misleading Food Labels That Are Deceiving You

Seeing this inspires me with ideas to set the record straight on the truth about “diet” foods.

So as I was walking down the frozen food aisle, I kept seeing all the typical food labels that are claiming, “low fat”, “all natural”, “low calorie”, I think you get the point.

The 5 Worst Frozen Diet Foods

Based on this, I picked out the 5 worst frozen “diet” foods that I could find.

These foods are listed in random order.

#1. Frozen Pre-packaged Meat, Poultry, And Fish

You might be thinking, it’s meat, so it must be a good source of protein right?

Best Protein Sources To Burn Belly Fat

Well it would be, if it was just meat.

Even though it may say it’s “Free From Antibiotics and Hormones”, it’s not free from all the other unhealthy fattening ingredients and chemicals added to the meat.

This is especially true when the meat is breaded.

Stick to the real thing, one ingredient meat, then add your own healthy spices and seasonings.

#2. Frozen Sweet Potato Fries

We’ve all heard sweet potatoes are good for you, right?

Yes, sweet potatoes are good for you, but not frozen sweet potatoes fries that contain soybean oil and other additives.

Buy a real sweet potato and make your own sweet potato french fries using this recipe.

These sweet potato french fries also taste way better than frozen french fries.

#3. Frozen Dinners

I’ve done a whole video post on 7 healthy frozen dinners high in protein, so I’m going to keep this one short.

7 Healthy Frozen Meals High In Protein

Just because the food label says “low calorie”, it doesn’t mean it’s good for you.

Especially if the serving size is so small, that you won’t even be filled up after eating it.

This is also true when they claim the frozen dinner is low in calories, because it’s also low in fat.

Consuming healthy dietary fat is important because eating fat keeps you feeling full.

Next time, just look at the ingredients label to see what is in there.

This will also give you a better idea of what you’re actually eating.

This may change your mind next time you try to pick up one of those unhealthy frozen dinners.

Always take leftovers from last night’s dinner, as your lunch at the office.

It’s that simple.

Just cook your dinner in bulk.

#4. Frozen Pizza

Here’s an example of tricky marketing.

If it says, “50% lower in fat”, does that make it healthy?

Well obviously a meat-less pizza is going to be 50% lower in fat when they compare the fat content to a pepperoni, sausage, and bacon pizza.

However, I said it before, lower fat doesn’t mean it’s healthy.

Always read the ingredients label.

Muscle building pizza

Better yet, make you own homemade muscle building pizza or safe the frozen pizza when you earn a cheat meal.

#5. Frozen Shrimp

I’ve fallen for this one many times.

And to be honest, it’s not all bad.

Shrimp is a great source high in protein that is low in carbohydrates.

So this typically makes people “on a diet” consume a lot of it when they see the shrimp tray out at a party.

However, what most people don’t know is many brands of frozen shrimp are loaded with sodium.

If you can find low sodium versions of frozen shrimp, go to town baby.

Low sodium frozen shrimp is awesome.

But just look at the nutrition label next time to see how much sodium is in it.

Cool?

Bottom Line On The 5 Worst Frozen Diet Foods For Weight Loss

All right Live Lean Nation, the point of this video post is to just open your eyes that pre-packaged processed food, no matter what the label on the front of the box says, is not your best option when it comes to eating healthy.

I want you to stick to healthy whole foods that are fresh, and don’t even need a box.

Yes, that means you’ll have to cook your food.

However, it also means you’re taking control back of the foods and ingredients you’re putting in your body.

Cooking is a lifelong lifestyle habit that is an absolute game changer.

When it comes to Living Lean, making your own food is so crucial and important, that it will change your life.

You have to commit to it.
