4 Foods You’re Eating Wrong:

#1. Using The Microwave To Cook Food & Re-Heat Leftovers

I admit, when I first heard microwaves were bad, I brushed it off as another crazy health concept. It wasn’t until I really started looking into it that I’m convinced of its significance (if you don’t believe me just google “microwave ban” – microwaves were actually banned in Russia in 1976!).

This method to heating food (via electromagnetics and radio waves) can alter the chemistry of the food which ultimately creates a foreign substance to your digestive system.

Always defrost frozen food in the refrigerator. When heating water, heat it in a tea kettle (when making tea) or in a sauce pan. Heat up leftovers over low heat in a frying pan. If you want to heat up your vegetables, steam them, boil them, or sautee them in a frying pan.

#2. Frying Olive Oil Over High Heat

Olive oil is not meant to be heated over high heat as it has a lower smoking point. The smoke point is the temperature at which the oil begins to breakdown and oxidize. Oxidation creates free radicals. Not good.

Stick to coconut oil when you’re cooking foods over higher heat and use olive oil mainly for dressings or when cooking over lower heat.

#3. Eating Salads With No Fat Source

Vegetables are nature’s multivitamin as they’re filled with many vitamins and minerals. However many people don’t realize vitamins are classifed as fat soluble or water soluble. In other words, the fat soluble vitamins, which are vitamin A, D, E, and K are absorbed by the body most optimally when they are consumed with a fat source.

So next time you’re enjoying a delicious salad, add a healthy fat source like olive oil, avocados, seeds, and/or nuts to ensure you’re absorbing all those fat soluble vitamins.

#4. Overcooking Steak

Overcooking your meat on a BBQ or grill to the point where you get those black flakey pieces on the meat can increase your consumption of cancer causing carcinogens.

Be a man, stick to medium…we like it pink inside.
