You Do NOT Have To Eat Healthy On Vacation

Here’s how to get away with not eating healthy on vacation

On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, Jessica and I share why you do NOT have to eat healthy on vacation.

But, you must do this one thing to get away with it.

This is another great episode from our #WayBackWednesday series, where we highlight the best questions from previous episodes of our #AskLiveLeanTV Q&A show.

This question is from #AskLiveLeanTV Ep. 002.

You Do NOT Have To Eat Healthy On Vacation

@Rennat17 on Snapchat asks: how do you eat healthy on vacation? I’ve went on multiple trips recently and it’s hard to stay Living Lean.

This is similar to a previous question about eating at the airport, where we shared our 5 Best Healthy Airplane Travel Snack Ideas.

So for this post, we’ll answer the question from the perspective that you’ve already arrived on your vacation.

Eating healthy while traveling to your destination, versus eating healthy on vacation, can be a whole other challenge.

So here’s the deal

Since you’re on vacation with friends and family, obviously most people will be more laid back.

For example, even though it may only be 12pm, a lot of people could already be drinking margaritas, and eating the typical vacation type foods like s’mores.

This is why most people think it’s hard to Live Lean and eat healthy on vacation.

But before I share why this is not true, lets remember the purpose of a vacation is to relax and recuperate.

Therefore, completing one of the hardest workouts of your life, while on vacation, is not ideal.

Trust us, we get it

Both Jessica and I understand the perspective of why most people think you have to eat healthy on vacation.

However, as surprising as it may be to hear, we believe it’s completely ok to enjoy your favorite foods and drinks while on vacation.

In fact, when we go on vacation, we also enjoy drinking a couple margaritas while laying on the beach.

4 Best Tips To Stay Lean While Traveling

Living Lean doesn’t mean you have to workout every single day.

Major key alert!

Let me clarify something.

When we say 365 days a year, that means your body stays lean, 365 days a year. Living Lean 365 days a year doesn’t mean you have to workout and eat perfectly healthy, every single day.

To be honest, I need to start doing a better job of clearly communicating this idea to everyone.

When you’re Living Lean, your entire life is not spent in the gym and in the kitchen.

You can go on vacation and have some lazy and bad diet days.

What’s most important is, after your vacation is over, you quickly get re-focused on your strong Live Lean Mindset.

How To Get Back On Track After Binging (or Vacation)

If you go away on a 7 day vacation, and:

  • you don’t workout at all
  • you eat whatever you want

This does NOT necessarily mean you are not Living Lean.

However, it would mean you’re not Living Lean, if after coming home, you continue to lets things get out of control, such as:

  • skipping your workouts
  • eating poorly
  • doing the exact same things you did on vacation

Then, you’ve let things get out of control, and you’re not Living Lean anymore.

If you get back home, and you go back to the gym, you start eating the right types of foods, and you get back to getting enough sleep, then it just happens again.

Your positive Live Lean habits are forming

Plus, if you truly already have built and instilled these positive Live Lean habits inside of you, by the time you get home, you can’t wait to go eat a salad and get back in the gym.

As a true Live Leaner, your body just craves the healthy lifestyle once it becomes a habit.

Your body will be like, I can’t eat any more hot dogs or potato chips.

I need a healthy bowl of meat and vegetables, like this delicious chicken fajita salad recipe.

It’s like a switch that will just turn on.

Bottom line on how to eat healthy on vacation

Don’t stress over a little vacation away from your healthy Live Lean habits.

It’s not worth the added stress.

So have fun on your vacation, and simply try to make smarter food choices, while indulging every once in a while.

5 Ways to Drink More Water

Also drink lots of water, and when you get back, the most important thing is to get right back on track.

The stress of worrying about not Living Lean, or that you’re doing everything wrong, is worse for you than the occasional dirty meals that you’re going to have.

Try not to stress out and keep your mindset strong, no matter what

Remember, you’re still committed to the Live Lean lifestyle, and even though everything is not perfect while you’re on vacation, you will get back to it.

I’ll leave you with this.

Living Lean is not about being perfect. It is about making continuous progress.

It’s up to you to have that trust and confidence in yourself.
