How To Do A Barbell Zercher Good Morning Exercise Video Demonstration and Guide

The Barbell Zercher Good Morning is a variation of the traditional barbell good morning where rather than placing the barbell on the back of your shoulders, you hold the barbell in the elbow pits.

This changes the position of the weight, is easier on your spine if you’ve had previous injuries, and challenges more of the upper back, as well as the lower back and hamstrings.

To get started:

  1. With a shoulder width stance, place a barbell in the pits of your elbows with your arms bent.
  2. Slowly bend forward keeping the natural arch in your lower back.
  3. Once your back is at or near parallel to the ground, raise your torso back to the starting position.
  4. Ensure your lower back never rounds throughout the movement.
  5. Repeat.
