On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, we respond to a viewer whose doctor said the paleo diet does not work for them.
Kelly Marie from Facebook says: On Monday, I had another gall bladder attack, which was the worst I’ve ever had. I spent two days in the hospital for blood work. My results showed that my liver function was high. Once again, steak and eggs with olive oil was the culprit. My doctor said the paleo diet does not work for me, and is not right for everyone. She said my body needs carbohydrates from grains, as well as dairy. I know you are not doctors, but what do you think? Do you believe the paleo diet does not work for some people?
It looks like you’ve tested the Paleo diet on your body, by following a diet primarily of eating meat and fat from oils.
This is similar to the Live Lean Way of eating that we share.
Just because it may work for most people, it doesn’t necessarily mean the Paleo diet will be good for your body.
This also includes other diets, such as the keto diet.
Based on the negative effects on your body, you may fall into a category of being an outlier.
This is why I’m glad you went to see your doctor for your blood work results.
If your blood work is clearly showing you that the Paleo diet does not work for your body, you have to switch up your diet.
I recommend you follow your doctor’s dietary recommendations.
Then see if these changes to your diet prevents future gallbladder attacks from happening.
If these changes help, stick with it.
One of the most important things to recognize, when it comes to listening to your doctor, over generic advice on the internet, is they know your health history.
When you become an online Live Lean coaching client, you get more personalized recommendations and customized help with your specific needs.
Whether it’s the Paleo diet, the keto diet, or the Mediterranean diet, there is not a perfect diet for everyone.
Ultimately, you might just be one of the rare cases, where your body does not respond well to paleo approved foods.
If you have tried the paleo diet, and your body has clearly rejected it, then you should do what feels better for you.
There is no such thing as “the perfect diet” that works for every single person.
Ultimately, your nutrition plays a huge factor when it comes to your health.
Even though genetics plays a role, lifestyle factors, such as the foods you put in your mouth, and your activity level, play a huge role.
These lifestyle factors can prevent or cause many of the major diseases, such as heart disease, as well as cancer.
So with all that said, we’re really glad that you are experimenting with your diet to find different ways that work for you.
With time, you’ll find what works, so just keep working at it.
