How To Do A Cable Core Press Exercise Video Demonstration and Guide

The Cable Core Press, also known as the Cable Pallof Press is an excellent core stabilization and abs strengthening exercise that you don’t see many people doing.

To get started:

  1. While standing next to a cable machine, adjust the handle to be in alignment with your chest.
  2. Stand with the side of your body facing the cable machine.
  3. Step away from the cable machine to ensure the cable is taut before starting the exercise.
  4. Hold the handle into your chest, shoulders back, and core turned on.
  5. This is key, you must keep your core contracted throughout this exercise.
  6. Do not allow your hips or shoulders to rotate.
  7. If they do, lower the weight.
  8. Slowly push your hands forward so your arms are fully extended and pause for 3 seconds.
  9. Reverse the movement and repeat all the reps in a slow and controlled manner.
  10. Switch sides and repeat.
