Beef protein powder is having a moment.
✅ Dairy-free
✅ Paleo-friendly
✅ Carnivore-approved
✅ No bloat
On paper it sounds like the clean upgrade to whey that guys in their 30s and 40s have been waiting for.
But here’s what almost every Naked Nutrition beef protein powder review online gets wrong: they read the front of the tub, not the back.
So I ran Naked Beef Protein through the same 4 healthy guidelines I use to choose any high quality protein powder.
No exceptions and no grading on a curve because there’s a partnership attached.
Some of it impressed me.
One part of it surprised me.
Let’s get into it.
✅ Two ingredients
✅ Zero sugar
✅ Zero carbs
✅ Lactose-free

That’s a strong opening hand.
Now let’s test it.

Before the guidelines, you need to understand something the supplement industry would rather you didn’t.
“Beef protein” is not one thing.
It’s two very different things wearing the same jersey:
Both can legally be called “beef protein.”
Naked is upfront about which one they are.
Right on the product page it states that it is “sourced from european beef bones”.
And 17 of the 21 grams of protein per serving is collagen.
Credit where it’s due since most brands bury that.
Naked leads with it.
But this changes how you should use this product.
Which brings us to Guideline #1.

The two questions I ask:
Here’s what Naked publishes per serving:
Add those three up and you get 9.7 grams, which is roughly 46% of the 21g of protein in every scoop.
That matters, because hydroxyproline is essentially a collagen fingerprint.
It barely exists in muscle meat protein.
When you see 2 grams of it per serving, you’re looking at collagen.
And collagen has two known limitations for muscle building:
Now, Naked’s product page states each serving of beef protein powder delivers 21g of complete protein with all 9 essential amino acids.
However, from a muscle building perspective, it’s important to look at the full amino acid breakdown per serving.
This verifies you’re actually hitting the essential and branched chain amino acid amounts required to build muscle.
For building muscle, here’s what I look for per serving:
As you can see on the back of the label, here’s Naked Nutrition Beef Protein’s branched chain amino acid breakdown per serving:
Important to note: Tryptophan is not even listed on the amino acid label.
Naked Beef Protein Powder For Muscle Building: Naked Beef Protein is not a 1-for-1 whey isolate replacement.
If you use it as a connective tissue and joint support protein, it’s excellent.
But if you use it as your sole post-workout muscle-building shake, you’re leaving recovery on the table.
Based on this, it’s not a fail, but not a clean pass either.
Formula: grams of protein per serving ÷ grams of serving size.
Healthy Goal: 70–90%
Naked Beef Protein delivers 21g of protein in a 24g scoop.
That’s not just passing, that’s near the top of the range.
There’s almost nothing in this scoop that isn’t protein.
Naked Beef Protein Percentage Of Protein By Weight Goal: APPROVED.
Formula: (grams of protein × 4 calories) ÷ total calories per serving.
Healthy Goal: 80% or more
93% of the calories in this scoop are protein calories.
That’s about as efficient as it gets.
Since it’s zero carbs and zero sugar, it also makes it genuinely easy to slot into keto, paleo, or carnivore.
Naked Beef Protein Percentage Of Calories From Protein Goal: APPROVED.
Healthy Goal: minimal clean ingredients, and if it’s sweetened, natural zero calorie sweeteners like stevia or monk fruit, not artificial sweeteners.
Naked Beef Protein (Unflavored) ingredients:
That’s it.
Two ingredients.
The sunflower lecithin is a standard emulsifier that helps the powder dissolve instead of clumping at the bottom of your shaker.
No stevia, no monk fruit, no sucralose, no “natural flavors” doing mystery work.
I’ve reviewed a lot of protein powders.
A 3–4 ingredient label impresses me.
Two is the cleanest label I’ve analyzed.
Naked also states the bones are processed in Sweden using mechanical and thermal methods only.
No chemical solvents.
Plus the product is free of growth hormones (no rBGH or rBST).
European sourcing means tighter regulation on hormones and antibiotics than “sourced from somewhere, trust us.”
Naked Beef Protein Ingredients And Sweetener Goal: APPROVED.
Third-party testing means an independent lab has verified purity, potency, and label accuracy.
The FDA doesn’t do this for supplements.
Nobody does it, unless the brand pays for it.
The major third party certifications are from:
Even though Naked Nutrition’s grass-fed whey carries NSF certification, I could not find a third-party certification listed for the beef protein specifically.
When I reached out to Naked Nutrition, the team replied back that the “Beef Protein Powder is currently in the queue for ingredient certification”, however the exact date was not mentioned.
This is not a dealbreaker since testing is expensive and I’ve always treated this as a bonus, not a requirement.
Bonus Criteria: Not yet met for beef protein powder, but it is currently in the queue.Bonus Criteria: Not yet met for beef protein powder, but it is currently in the queue.

First up, taste.
When mixing the unflavored beef protein in just plain water, you taste a subtle, faintly savory, a little earthy, that is comparable to light bone broth.
Here’s the thing though: that’s not a flaw, that’s just what protein tastes like when nobody’s hiding it behind sucralose.
However, this taste disappears and is literally unnoticeable when you blend it with water, mango, and berries.
That’s the move to get 21g of clean protein, 17 grams of which is collagen, with zero flavor compromise.
So the honest recommendation: this is a blend-it protein, not a chug-it protein.
Unless you genuinely like a savory bone broth shake, don’t drink this straight from a shaker with water.
Next up, mixability.
This is where it genuinely impressed me.
I ran it through a frother and a blender.
Both dissolved it perfectly.
No clumps, no floaters, no chalky residue at the bottom of the glass at the end.
Plenty of “clean” protein powders mix like wet sand, so this was a pleasant surprise.
Finally, digestion.
I’m happy to say there was no bloat, no gurgling, and no stomach weirdness.
Not on day one and not on day five.
One-time purchase:
Autoship (20% off):
For context, quality whey isolate and egg white protein typically run $1.50–$3.00 per serving.
At full price, Naked Beef sits in the upper-middle of that range, but autoship pricing is much more competitive.
Beef protein is one product in a lineup of 50+ Naked Nutrition products.
If you’re building a stack, the ones I’d actually point you toward:
Naked Whey, Casein, Pea, Collagen, and both Mass gainers are NSF certified.
At the time of this writing, Creatine, EAAs, and the beef protein are not.

This is a strong buy if you:
Look elsewhere if you:
How I’d actually use it:
This is not a whey replacement.
Use beef protein in the morning or on training days for the connective tissue support.
Use a complete, high-leucine protein, like Naked Whey, around your workout.
Different tools, different jobs.
| Guideline | Result |
|---|---|
| #1: Type of protein | Use for joints, tendons, and connective tissue, NOT muscle building |
| #2: % protein by weight (87.5%) | Approved |
| #3: % calories from protein (93%) | Approved |
| #4: Ingredients & sweeteners | Approved |
| Bonus: Third-party testing | Not yet, but it’s in the queue |
Most Naked Nutrition beef protein powder reviews will tell you this is a clean whey alternative.
It isn’t.
It’s a clean, dairy-free, connective-tissue-focused protein, not an optimal muscle building protein.

Is Naked beef protein a complete protein? Naked states each serving provides all 9 essential amino acids. However, 17 of the 21 grams per serving is collagen, which is naturally low in leucine and missing tryptophan. Treat it as a supplemental protein for joints, tendons, and connective tissue rather than your primary muscle-building shake.
Is beef protein better than whey? For muscle protein synthesis specifically, whey isolate still wins on leucine content and digestibility. Beef bone protein wins on being dairy-free and on collagen amino acids for joints and connective tissue. They’re different tools. See my breakdown on whey vs. plant based protein powder for the same logic applied elsewhere.
Does Naked beef protein cause bloating? It contains no dairy and no lactose, so the usual whey bloat trigger isn’t there. Some people report a short adjustment period switching from whey to beef protein.
What does Naked beef protein taste like? Unflavored beef bone protein has a neutral to faintly broth-like taste. Vanilla and chocolate options exist and are noticeably less sweet than artificially sweetened powders.
Is Naked beef protein third-party tested? Not yet. Naked’s whey, casein, pea, collagen, and mass gainer products all appear on NSF’s certified listing. When I reached out to Naked Nutrition, the team replied back that the “Beef Protein Powder is currently in the queue for ingredient certification”, however the exact date was not mentioned.
Does Naked beef protein contain lead? Unknown at this time. Consumer Reports tested Naked’s Vegan Mass Gainer in October 2025 and found 7.7 mcg of lead per 315g serving, the highest in their study. That is a pea and rice product, not the beef protein, and plant proteins averaged roughly nine times the lead of dairy proteins in the same study. At this time the beef protein has not been independently tested. Since lead accumulates in bone tissue and this product is bone-derived, I’d want to see a Certificate of Analysis before making claims in either direction.
Which Naked Nutrition products are NSF certified? Per NSF’s live listing for Naked Whey, Inc.: Naked Casein, Naked Pea, Naked Shake, Naked Mass, Vegan Naked Mass, Naked Whey, and Naked Collagen. Naked Beef Protein, Naked Creatine, and Naked EAAs are not currently listed.
Is Naked Nutrition safe after the Consumer Reports lead story? The product CR flagged was the Vegan Mass Gainer specifically, and it’s now NSF certified. There are no enforceable federal limits on heavy metals in supplements, which is the bigger issue — CR used California’s Prop 65 threshold of 0.5 mcg/day, while the FDA’s interim reference level is 8.8 mcg/day for women of childbearing age. Judge products individually, not by brand.
