What is Reverse Dieting?

Reverse Dieting means slowly increasing your calories to “reverse” the effects of a slow metabolism due to long term dieting or under eating.

If you’ve been chronically undereating you’ve unintentionally lowered your rate of metabolism. – this is a problem because any time you
Accidentally or occasionally or inevitably over-eat it’s more likely to be stored as fat rather than used for energy.

Who is Reverse Dieting for?

If you’ve been eating less food than your “goal weight” BMR + activity factor for longer than a few weeks, yet you see no result or no further results.In other words, you’ve hit a plateau and it doesn’t change even if/when you eat even less.

If you don’t even know how many calories you’ve been eating but you suspect it might not be enough and your fat loss has been at a stand still.

If you feel sluggish, lethargic and tired throughout the day and find yourself always reaching for caffeine, sugar and supplements.

How do you do a Reverse Diet?

Make a plan. Take your time.

What I recommend is figuring out your maintenance calories (for your goal weight)

Next figure out how many calories you typically eat, by truly tracking things for a few days.

Subtract your actual calories that you observed from your ideal goal calories that you calculated

If it’s a 100-200 calorie difference you’re okay to just start with that right away. Create a meal plan that fulfills your new calorie goal and stick to it.

but if it’s 500 or greater I recommend taking at least 5-6 months to slowly increase your calories.
Month 1 – your usual plus 100
Month 2 – add another 100
Month 3 – add another 100
and so on until you’re able to comfortably consume your maintenance cals.

Bottom Line – Living Lean is NOT about undereating

Eating healthier foods helps you self-regulate how much you need.

But just because you’re eating healthier doesn’t mean you have to eat 100% healthy 100% of the time.

Just aim for Better. Better is better than worse! If you keep going on the path of better everyday, you’ll soon realized you’ve dramatically transformed.
