Best Healthy Lunch Ideas For Work

What should I take to work for lunch?

On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, I’m sharing the best healthy lunch ideas for work, that are so quick and simple.

I get asked the following question all the time:

“Brad, what should I take to work for lunch?”

Best Healthy Lunch Ideas For Work

Even though the answer to this question is very simple, I’ve decided to devote an entire Freestyle Friday episode to this topic.

When it comes to the best healthy lunch ideas, they do not need to be the typical lunch items that everyone eats.

For example, when you think of lunch, what is the first food item you think of?

If you’re American, Canadian, or European, it’s probably a sandwich comprised of bread and processed sandwich meat such as ham, bologna, turkey, or roast beef.

It’s time to change the conventional thinking towards meals

For example, it’s time to stop thinking:

  • lunch needs to be a sandwich
  • breakfast needs to be cereal or eggs
  • dinners need to be salmon, chicken, or steak

Throw all of that confined thinking out of the window.

Here’s what I want you to focus on.

Eat real whole foods, regardless of if it is for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

I don’t care what time of day it is, or what whole foods you’re eating.

For example:

But please, please, please, stop eating sandwiches every day for lunch.

Just because it’s lunch time, it does not mean your lunch needs to be processed sandwich meats, slapped between two pieces of bread slathered in mayonnaise.

In fact, try removing bread from your diet for at least 14 days and see what happens to your cravings, energy levels, and ultimately your physique.

Bread is dead

The overconsumption of bread does nothing but:

Replace eating sandwiches for lunch every day with this.

Let me ask you a quick and simple question.

What did you eat the night before for dinner?

That’s what I want you to take for lunch.

I always recommend cooking in bulk, then take the leftovers for lunch the next day.

3 Delicious High Protein Recipes to Cook in Bulk

Then you’re good.

It’s that simple.

Do yourself a favor and change your mindset from believing sandwiches have to be for lunch.

This also goes for snacks

5 Best Snacks to Gain Muscle for Women

Snack food does not have to be those pre-packaged, high carbohydrate junk foods, that are loaded with sugar.

Focus on eating real foods for snacks and for lunch, by cooking your dinners in bulk, then eating the leftovers the next day.

What if I don’t have a fridge to store my lunch?

I get it.

You may be saying to yourself, “But Brad, I don’t have a fridge to store my leftovers in.”

If that is the case, go buy yourself one of these Six Pack Fitness insulated meal prep bag.

It is insulated, has ice packs built into it, and comes with multiple food storage containers that slide in place.

When I was working outside of the home, or traveling, I would store my lunch and snacks in this.

Since it has ice packs inside, you can even leave it in your car, and the food will still stay cool and safe to consume in a few hours.

When it comes to Living Lean, there are no excuses

You just have to be prepared to eat right and move your body.

This is just another way to eat healthier lunches comprised of real whole food, so you can get the sandwiches out of your lunches.

  1. You took the words out of my mouth!
My lunch today? An omelette with leftover roast veggies and sweet potato. I try to cook once, and eat three times!
    P.S. Love the new kitchen!

  2. Now that I am working on restricting my grains to before 1 pm, my lunches are more substantial and my dinners LEANER. So I have been adding quinoa to salads, heating chilis/hearty soups.
