A few weeks ago America celebrated National French Fry Day.

Yep, on average we eat over 130 pounds per person, per year.

Mmm…pure carbs and grease!

So based on this well deserved day of celebration, a survey was taken to find out what restaurant has the best french fries in America.

34% of American’s voted McDonald’s as having the best french fries.

How does this rank on a nutrition scale?

Well, if you’re strictly comparing calorie vs. calorie of french fries, surprisingly a small order of french fries from McDonald’s is a decent option as it comes in at just…

McDonald’s French Fries Nutrition Info:

  • 230 calories
  • 30g carbs
  • 11g fat (0g trans fat)
  • 2g protein
  • 130 mg sodium

So it’s not going to blow out your macros, but I do get a little freaked out when I look at the ingredients.

Chemicals and lots of inflammatory fats.

But from a calorie standpoint, it’s a much better option than the worst french fries I could find from Five Guys Fries.

Homemade Sweet Potato French Fries Recipe

(makes 2 servings)

The Best & Worst French Fries In America (& My Fav Recipe)

French Fries Ingredients:

  • 1 Sweet Potato
  • 2 tbsp of Coconut Oil
  • Dash of Paprika
  • Dash of Garlic Powder
  • Dash of Sea Salt
  • Dash of Black Pepper

French Fries Instructions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 450F.
  2. Peel sweet potato.
  3. Cut in half, then cut into ¼ thick and wide french fry strips.
  4. Add to a bowl and drizzle with coconut oil and the spices.
  5. Place parchment paper on a baking sheet and top with the fries on a single level.
  6. Bake for approximately 30 mins.
  7. Flip the french fries after 15 mins to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from heat after 30 mins and let sit for 5-10 mins.
  9. Take a bite and yell “Damn That’s Good!”

Carb:26g
Fat: 14g
