The Healthiest Calorie Saving Frozen Dinner Options

On today’s episode of Live Lean TV, I’m sharing 7 healthy frozen meals high in protein, that are good calorie saving options, and healthier than eating out at a restaurant.

These 7 best calorie saving frozen meals pass my protein and fiber requirements, as well as falling within a healthy carbohydrate and sodium range.

No matter how many times I say to prep your meals in bulk, and take leftovers to work for lunch, sometimes life gets in the way, we don’t have time, or to be honest, we’re just freaking lazy.

In these cases, I want to arm you, and the Live Lean Nation, with a calorie saving back up plan, that is healthier then hitting up the closest fast food restaurant.

That’s right, I’m talking about “healthier” frozen meal options to take to work for lunch, or when you come home and are looking to have a quick dinner.

I Analyzed The Nutrition Facts Of These Popular Frozen Meal Brands

I spent a few hours going through the nutrition information labels of these frozen meal brands:

  • Amy’s
  • Artisan Bistro
  • Australis
  • Banquet
  • Boston Market
  • Healthy Choice
  • Kashi
  • Evol
  • Stouffers Bistro
  • Stouffers Lean Cuisine
  • VH Steamers
  • Weight Watchers Smart Ones

So let me know in the comments below, which of these frozen meal brands do you think I’m going to recommend?

Once again, this took me a long time, so feel free to click the social media buttons to share this post with your friends.

Live Lean Frozen Meal “Nutrition Gauntlet” Criteria

All right, as I mentioned, I put each of these frozen food brands through my Live Lean Frozen Meal “Nutrition Gauntlet”.

The only frozen meals that can survive have to have:

  • More than 20g of protein
  • More than 5g of fiber
  • 40g or less of carbohydrates
  • 500mg or less of sodium

The sodium criteria is an important one since frozen meals are notoriously high in sodium.

With this said, the 7 healthiest frozen meal options, that met and passed the Live Lean Frozen Meal Nutrition Gauntlet criteria, came from 2 frozen meal brands.

The 2 frozen meal brands that passed the Live Lean Frozen Meal Nutrition Guantlet critera are:

  1. Artisan Bistro: Winner. Come on down baby, you were Live Lean TV’s healthiest choice for frozen dinners.

Here are the frozen meal options that I recommend you check out from Artisan Bistro.

#1. Artisan Bistro Chicken Citron

Runner Up Goes To Lean Cuisine

I can’t end this post without giving honorable mention to the runner up, Lean Cuisine.

If you can’t find Artisan Bistro frozen meals, I recommend you check out the following Lean Cuisine frozen meals.

  1. Thank you for this Brad…I usually have Healthy Choice for lunch because I
thought it was *HEALTHY*. I’ll just stick to the real food…it’s easier
than trying to figure out the stats…LOL

  2. NICE VIDEO BRAD. JUST CURIOUS WHY ARE YOU CONCERNED WITH SODIUM SO MUCH? IF
YOU ARE CONSISTENT WITH HIGHER SODIUM I DONT SEE WHY ITS A PROBLEM.

  3. love it. “we’re freaking lazy” so true haha I will definitely be sharing
this with some of my subbies. I always get asked what they can grab and I
always tell them NOTHING haha but at least there are some options that will
be ok.. Thanks for testing these out! xoxo
